What is Service of notice (intimação)?

Service of notice is the official communication of a step in the case to the parties (art. 269 of the CPC). It is the event that, in the vast majority of cases, starts a deadline — to appeal, to respond, to comply. Missing a notice is almost always missing a deadline.

In the labor flow, service is the most frequent communication: the deadline agenda and the timeliness of every reaction depend on it. The date of knowledge — actual or constructive — is the starting point of the count.
