What is Initial summons (notificação inicial)?

Initial summons is the act that informs the company of the claim and calls it to the hearing (art. 841 of the CLT). In labor procedure it plays the role of service of process: from it the defendant learns of the claims and of the day on which it must appear and defend itself.

It is the milestone that brings the company into the case. Reading it in time is decisive — failure to appear at the inaugural hearing may result in default and an admission as to the facts.
